Darren Elliott, PhD
Hiya, I’m Darren, a Kiwi writer and researcher interested in how contemporary life shapes the way we understand and experience our bodies.
I have a PhD in Screen and Media, where my research explored the relationship between social media and adults’ body image experiences. That work taught me that body image is rarely simple. How we relate to our bodies is shaped by who we are, the lives we live, the people around us, and the media we use every day.
My writing now takes that work further. I explore body image within the broader experience of living in and through a body, with a particular interest in social media, fitness and contemporary culture.
This blog is where I put research to work: unpacking ideas, questioning familiar assumptions and looking more closely at the influences shaping how we live in our bodies.
